Swimming Instructor

A decent line of work on a part time or casual basis. Use your time before retirement to gain experience as an unpaid helper/volunteer before enrolling in a course as these are expensive if you decide it’s not for you.
I am not very familiar with the ASA structure but from what I remember L1 is a short course to establish basic knowledge and some teaching skills whilst working with an experienced teacher then L2 gives more insight to stroke skills, development, practical application and should help you to find regular work.
Anything else ask away

If I were to do my levels 1 & 2 now, do they expire or have to be renewed or you be re-assessed. Is there a system of CPD? I'd quite like to get them out of the way now, so I'm ready to go at some point in the future. But don't want to be told "no, you haven't used your skills for 2 years so you have to start again".
Do L1 seek work experience (might be unpaid) then after a period of time when you feel ready then do L2. The qualification is always there and CPD can be done as and when you want to and depending what is accessible to you. Once you start on the bandwagon and get involved with a lesson programme they will guide you.

Seems to be a lucrative endeavour if you can get it right
My sons instructor certainly isn’t short of a few quid, had his brand new BMW 840d delivered a month or so ago.
Ha, not at my leisure centre he didn't!! £10/hour ASA level one, £20 for level 2. I'm not really considering it for the money, just a s something worthwhile to do. Would hope to teach adults and special needs adults, but maybe kids as well. My sons instructor certainly isn’t short of a few quid, had his brand new BMW 840d delivered a month or so ago.

Misses is level 3 I asked her.She said you just do them and are good to go.
Can do CPD but don't have to although as expected most places would like some experience either teaching or coaching.
