So I have a massive screw in a P7 tyre, luckily not going on a long trip anywhere this weekend. So the car has PZeros on the rear and Cinturato P7s on the front. They're all star marked. Since we've had the car it's been jerky at low throttle between 10-30mph and I've read a lot about star marked tyres and am thinking I should have all 4 tyres the same to eliminate that as an issue.

My question is, do only BMW sell the star marked tyres? BMW are quoting £318 each for PZero and I want to shop around but all the web sites are ambiguous on whether their tyres are star marked or not. They all say they're for BMW and will have a BMW badge next to the tyre but that's not definitive really. Surprisingly I can't find anything on the internet to say whether the online shops sell star marked tyres or not. I don't want to order and have to send them back.

Anyone ordered online and knowingly and successfully bought star marked tyres? Is there a list of star marked tyres available to choose from? It's an F25 X3 30d. Sorry for rambling..!

Camskill, Oponeo, Pneus Online, Blackcircles, MyTyres, to name a few, will all sell you star marked tyres. Most of the sites are pretty clear on which tyres are BMW spec.

Camskill I think state OEM in the description, Oponeo have * in the description, Blackcircles have the BMW emblem beside the description and MyTyres have * in the description.

Just put your tyre sizes in and it will become apparent which are suitable for BMW.

I had a damaged P Zero star-marked tyre replaced at a BMW main dealer, same cost as Black Circles quoted.

Interesting, so I was quoted £318 for a new PZero tyre from Cooper Croydon and on black circles it's £210. It's *possible* they were quoting for 2 tyres but I doubt it...

The tyres will not cure the jerkiness, there is something else causing that.

My local tyre guy had star marked in his store ready to go. Very handy.

Now you're asking! :-) I would rather stick to what the manufacturer recommends. I've done modding on previous cars and now want the easy life.

I've heard that xdrive requires star marks but it may only be an issue for the X3 before the F25, the internet's not sure. My tyres are star marked but I get this jerkiness at low speeds that I think may be tyre related. I've read this can be unmatched tyres either in terms of tyre model or even different wear levels of the same tyre. Again the evidence is patchy but if I have to claim on warranty I'm going to make damn sure I comply with everything. I'll pay the tax...

So, dealer was going to charge £240 for a Pirelli PZero 245/50/18. Kwik-fit (of all places!) has the same tyre (BMW star-marked, run flat) for £159 and more off as well with Quidco discount!

Sorry for continuing this thread but thought this was worth a mention..

Now that we have PZeros all round the jerky transmission/engine feel between 10-30mph has completely gone. It's smooth as anything now. Before I had Cinturato P7 tyres maybe 30% worn just like the rear PZeros. They were star marked as well.

Would love to have tried new P7's on the front to see if they did the trick too but strange how fussy the X Drive system is..

Good and interesting to hear. I have a 335d on 28k miles, and the Pzeros have about 4mm left. I have found them pretty good all round, so I shall probably go same again.
