Brother needs a car for his daily commute to work 30-50 miles roundtrip. He’s not really knowledgable on cars but wants something reliable and somewhat fast 7-8 second 0-60 range as he only has 1 years NCD. Any suggestions would be helpful!

We’ve already written out the Renault Megane and the Renault Clio (not a fan of the looks)

Civic Type R, FN2 or EP3, EP3 is older but (IMO) nicer, FN2 is newer and better spec.

Honda Civic would be a good shout.

This Focus looks smart, is reasonable quick (and tunable) whilst also returning good mpg

Although I may be more tempted with this V40 despite the high miles.

Alpha Mito is quick, good economy and more importantly a lower insurance bracket. My uncle had one from new and apart from a new gearbox a few months in it was very reliable.

Do car makers design unreliable cars then?? How are you seeming what is it isn’t reliable?
