Does anybody have a bulb holder for a Cibie iode 35 driving lamp? I know the lamps are rarer than rocking horse droppings but its worth asking the question. Beer tokens await.

Same as Adam. I think I also have a rusty reflector in the garage. I'll see what condition the bulb older is in tonight.

Thanks for your responses. Philpott, your bulb holder is slightly different unfortunately, the profile is slightly more square. I am grateful for your efforts though. The car had a damaged driving lamp when I bought it 20 years ago. I bought a new lamp and fitted it but never connected it up. It turns out they were supplied without bulbs or holders. With the changes to MOT rules I thought it would be a good idea to get them working for the future.
All good fun!

Why would front driving lights be an MoT item?

My Mot guy thought they were front fogs but as you say he wasn't interested in them..the rears were a different story..failed on a light not lighting up on the rear fog switch, although the lights worked at the back..loose connection as always...and severe lack of use...smile

Yeah exactly, rear fogs must work if fitted, and a warning light must illuminate in the cabin.

I notice with a lot of modern cars the driving light on one side or other operates with steering input, has anyone driven one and does it help at night?

Hi Keith. That looks like the one. Is there any chance you would let it go if its spare?

Hi Adam. Just for clarification fog lamp testing was introduced last year on the mot however as far as I can make out it is only for cars manufactured after March 2018 my non working lamps have never been a failure point but I want to avoid any possible confusion in the future. I thought also it would be handy to be able to see where im going at night on the fast A roads, the headlamps are not great!

Yeah I think MoT stations are well used to date-limited testing, that's why we don't have to put cats on our cars and they pass the emissions tests with 2% CO belching out....

No harm in getting it working thought - they are a useful addition to full beam at night, and even during the day have a pleasing clearing effect in lane 2 the other day when I switched my lights on and they were still on full beam...

Yeah, useful for clearing the rif raf from the outside lane! I can just see the insulation melting away from the cables as I pull back on the column stalk!!!

Hi Adam
Yes, I find it helps especially on country lanes / b roads etc with no street lighting. I really wasn't keen on it at first but when I switched it off after a few days I realised what a difference it made and so put it back on.
Cheers, Chris.

Hmm, might be a useful upgrade then, just need to rig up some switches to the column somehow...

Hi Ian, yes if it helps a fellow Wedger then not a problem. Do you only want the bulb holder itself? Private message me your address and I'll post it over. Cheers.

Hi Ian, yes got your message okay. I'll post the holder and bulb later this week. Been somewhat busy over the weekend and spent this evening showing the new owner of my 350i all about it. Cheers.
