Hi all

I have the usual rust spots appearing on my front wings ie near the headlamps and by the bellows (car is an 83 SC that has been 'supersported')

I've spoken to a couple of bodyshops and they say that they could either cut out the rusted areas and weld in new metal or I could just bite the bullet and go for new wings.

They reckon that the labour effort for cutting out the rusted areas and welding in new metal might well mean that I should just go for new wings.

The rust at the moment is fairly limited but obviously it will get worse if not treated.

What do you guys reckon then?

New wings or cut and weld job?

I'm leaning towards new wings.

Also, any ideas how much it should cost to fit and paint them? Colour is champagne/platinum.

Many thanks!! :)

I'd say new wings as once they strip back the paint, the edges of the wing that abut the bumper will be on their way out too and the fuel filler could well be starting to go....

As to cost? I'm not up to date on new wings - yours are turbo of course so will be that much more expensive. Got to be at least £1k for the pair including VAT, but that's just a guess. Plus paint and your colour isn't easy to match either.

It's never cheap is it!!

Luckily I think I have some time yet before the wings deteriorate too badly so I can get some extra hours in at work to pay for the so and so's!
