This evening my old Morphy Richards bread maker baked its last loaf, expiring with an odd sequence of beeps just as a bake cycle finished. Suspect the control electronics have given up, as the simple bits - element, motor, transformer, temp sensor etc - all work fine.

Given a budget of £150, what replacement machines would be worth looking at? It needs to have a dough mixing function as this is very handy for making pizza bases, and I would also like a delay timer.

Quite like the look of this Panasonic item, at the top of my budget but Panasonic kit is usually well made, and the timed yeast release looks handy:

+1.

Mine is definitely over 20 years old - I think about 25 - and still going strong.

I've got a Panasonic, about 12 years old. Works great will do a large loaf (600g flour) and has a tray for stirring in chocolate chips, fruit etc into cakes (I have never used this..)

It was about £50

Champion, thanks all.

Have ordered the Panasonic, hopefully it'll last as long as that cheap Morphy Richards one did (about 12 years IIRC!).
