I think that we decided over the weekend that we're going to sell our Z06, or at least put it on the market.

Before anyone gets all keen, we're likely to price it at the top end of the market (somewhere around £34k) as we're not in any real hurry to sell. We're secretly hoping she doesn't sell so that we 'have' to keep her another year :-). She's in great condition and silver, which seems to be something of a rarity amongst the folks who go for the more garish colours (you know who you are)!!! She was also professionally SVA'd with a lifetime guarantee on the work, so we're hoping that counts for something with buyers who might be skittish about a car which had to be modified for use in the UK.

I'm sure most of you guys/gals won't be interested at that price (most will probably say that we're crazy to even think we can get that). The truth is that right now we don't need the money, but it was always our plan to sell her a year after we moved back from the US and we're not really using her as much as we want to. I think the only real reason that we're thinking of selling (though moth-balling was an option) is that we feel guilty that we don't drive her as often as she wants us to. We keep her going by driving her up and down the A3 every couple of weeks, but it's more out of necessity to keep her in good shape rather than for the fun.

We had hoped that we'd find the time to take her for a trip down to the South of France this summer before selling her, but with other committments that doesn't look likely at all :-(

I guess we'll see. I'll have to do all the taking of photos, writing ads etc this week.

Yuk.

Sorry to hear that after all the effort to do the SVA mods. Hope you find a buyer who will look after the Vette.

Well, we bought her for a couple of reasons. The first was that we knew we were going to be spending up to two years in Houston and frankly, without toys, that would have been no fun whatsoever!

Secondly, we also knew that if we brought her back, having lived there and owned her for long enough we wouldn't have to pay duty/tax on her and so when it came time to sell her a year after coming home we'd recoup the majority of what we paid for her for and, frankly, have run a supercar for 3 years for not very much money!

The problem is that you end up getting very attached, and owning a vette, particularly a Z06, is something of a lifestyle change. A very addictive lifestyle change.

So now we have the problem that we live in the middle of London and while she's magnificent to drive once you're outside the M25, getting to the open road takes forever and we don't have the time. It just doesn't seem fair on her to clip her wings so much.

After all, how many Z06's have survived the crazies in Houston (worst drivers in the world - all of them on cell phones paying no attention to the nutters crossing 6 lanes of traffic in one manoeuvre), taken road trips from the deep South to the North of America and tooled around the French Quarter in New Orleans before getting on a boat and moving to the UK. The girl has history :-)

Aaanywho...

I just hope that if we do end up selling her then we find someone who's going to take her on adventures like us. The girl has road-tripped from the deep South to the North of America, tooled around the French Quarter in New Orleans and then taken a boat trip across the Atlantic to London. She does like to get around.
