I last sold a car privately on here as it was somewhat specialist so the type a Pistonheader would buy.
For the cheap cars I've sold it's been Facebook marketplace and Gumtree.
Sold one car to WBAC too.
I think a lot of people are now going for the convenience of car buying sites such as WBAC/ Evans Halshaw etc.
Don't under estimate the fact PCP and PCH is on the up too so a lot of used cars go straight back into the dealer networks instead of the private market.

I was talking to a Renault, Dacia and MG main dealer today, they are pulling all advertising from Auto Trader because it costs too much and does not bring in many sales.
They have hired somebody to run all their advertising and will sell the cars via their own website instead, if this is a common approach I would imagine that Auto Trader will be having serious problems.

Looking at the huge amounts of cars entered into BCA from their "webuyanycar" site every week I'm sure the sheer amount of cars they're buying will have some effect on this.
Add in Evans Halshaw and various other internet buyers I reckon they're buying a huge amount that would have otherwise been sold privately on Autotrader.
My friends who still have sites still say the majority of their retail sales comes via Autotrader, although they say Ebay classifieds are catching up.

To be fair I put my E91 325i on AutoTrader on 18 April and got my 1st call on 22 April.
Caller got a train up the same day, bought the car and was heading home within an hour - it's just about pricing it right and finding the right buyer.
And I had found it's replacement on A/T a few weeks earlier!

Mine is a diesel, covered 35,000 miles and 35 months old. Loads of kit included in the car, plus a panoramic roof and TV Tuner. Mine is up for £17,800... It's the second Mk 3 Superb I've had (1st was a company car) and it's so difficult in what I should replace it with, I'm probably going to buy another one!

It's the internet. Any ad will have relatively large views. It's like Marks and Spencer - think how many people just look in the window or walk around the place without buying. 200 views isn't really many considering the number of total visitors the site gets..
I haven't looked at autotrader for years and wouldn't even think about looking there for a car. It used to be my go to site for car shopping but it seems to be mostly trade sales now with the odd overpriced private sale.
I now go owners forum sales page, ebay, FB marketplace then gumtree.
I rarely look at the PH classifieds either for mainly the same reasons as autotrader.
