My insurance company wont cover my co-pilot. It is a classic line TVR policy. He hasnt got TVR experience or any other fast car so they turned it down!
How can I ensure he can at least drive it in an emergency? eg if I get caught speeding and lose my licence ! Surely his uk car insurance will allow him to drive another car 3rd party only? so I guess he just needs to tell his ins co he is in France etc...? Anyone know ?
I guess he needs to show something to French police.
thanks
Gary

Not sure whether the inclusive 3rd party cover extends to European travel - worth checking on that first.

If he's insured with a biggie then he may have more look, I'm with Direct Line and they let me add other cars and people temporarily without a problem - although I've always insured cars with a lower insurance group and just paid an admin charge, not sure what it would be like moving up insurance groups - but worth a call.

Otherwise some of the specialists might offer a temporary policy for your mate, get the quotes now, then (depending on your travel times) call and enable it while in France.
