Anyone had 111 point check done for free recently?
Discussion
I occasionally read here of warranty extensions being done including a free 111 point check.
My 981 is booked in at OPC Leicester Friday week for 5yr MOT, 111 check (chargeable), 2yr warranty continuation (it's under extended warranty presently).
If another OPC is throwing in the 111 point check my OPC may be persuaded to do the same.
Thanks for any help/info.

My local OPC's will both do the 111 point check FOC if you are having the car serviced at the same time. If it's just an MOT they will charge you £216 for the pre-warranty extension check.
I just extended the warranty on my 3 year old 981 Spyder by just 1 year so moving forward it will now fall into line with the 2 year service intervals and then qualify for the free 111 point check.

not sure it was the full 111 point check - but my OPC did a 'free full check' when it was in for some routine maintenance. good thing too as they found a condenser leak which I'd not noticed.
probably a sales thing they do from time to time - but I don't mind - if they find something that needs doing and can demonstrate that to me - I'll get it done.

So I'd pay a little more pro rata for one year's extension (£660) rather than two (£1190) but save £216 every year thereafter.I just extended the warranty on my 3 year old 981 Spyder by just 1 year so moving forward it will now fall into line with the 2 year service intervals and then qualify for the free 111 point check.
However, phoning OPC Leicester just now, they tell me their 111 point check is half price, not free, when done at a service point.
Could you please advise who your two OPCs are so I can speak to my DP to see if he'll budge to free 111 point checks?
As it stands, let's say I extend 1yr this time: £216 + £660 = £876.
Then in 2yrs I extend 2yrs: £108 + 1190.
Total cost £2066. Pro-rata'd over 4yrs = £2754.67
Or... I extend 2yrs this time: £216 + 1190 = £1406
Then in 2yrs I extend 2yrs: = £1406
Total cost £2812.
With only half price 111 point check it's just a little cheaper to go for 1yr this time and then every 2yrs after, but naturally free 111 point checks would be ideal.
Thanks for your help.

Just phoned my 2nd nearest OPC in Sutton Coldfield. They'll do the 111 point check for free alongside a service so I've asked Leics DP if he'd like to match this or lose my ongoing servicing business to their rival.
What do you think his reply will be?
Depends how much he What do you think his reply will be?
A) Values you as a customer
and/or
B) Whether he or any of his staff check PH ! (I know the GSM at my OPC does)

Of course, how stupid of me to ask if I could save £216 or £108 every two years. And why would my OPC want my servicing business every two years, my custom if I ever have an issue or need parts, my recommendation of their company to others.
I'd totally forgotten Porsche don't need customers at all and can survive on charitable donations.

Let’s just remind ourselves what we are discussing here

Yes, it is what you would expect any competent service centre to do as part of a service on any normal car. It’s just nicely documented.
Perhaps it ads value if you are thinking of selling in the next year, but to me, it is sort of paying for the same service twice, if it’s an extra.
