Where have BMW hidden the 16 pin IPNA connector?

Following up on my previous questions, and having ascertained that my 2003 530i, being post June 2000, no longer has the 20 pin connector under the bonnet I set about trying to find the 16 pin connector which is "....located under left side of the dashboard....", this taken from a service manual by Bentley Publishers. I can't find anything that looks anything like a 16 pin (2 x 8) socket. Are we talking about the left hand side of a LH drive vehicle, or the left hand side of a UK registered RH drive? I''m completely foxed!

If its an E60, there is a flap in the plastic trim on the right side of the (RHD) drivers footwell.
If its an E39, I can't help you 😕

It's an E39. Hope someone is familiar with the layout.

Your OBD port is in the roof of the small cubby by/behind the steering wheel; if you look into it, you’ll see a flap covering it, pull that down and there’s your port

Thanks for that Dan, reason I didn't find it before was due to the fact that I had stuffed a pair of gloves in the cubby-hole! Thanks again.
