E87 remote locking not working and no radio reception...

Evening,
I’ve recently bought an extremely cheap 2004 E87 116i. It was cheap because it’s really not been looked after at all. I’ve sorted most of the niggles out however this one still has me baffled.
The remote central locking doesn’t work at all. The central locking works fine with the key in the door but nothing happens with the remote. I’ve soldered a replacement battery onto the key but still no luck. I also realised the radio reception was extremely poor and sometimes non existent. After some furious googling I saw that replacing the diversity antenna in the tailgate sometimes sorts both these issues out. So I bought a known working used one and fitted it but it’s made no difference.
I’m not convinced it’s a problem with the key itself mainly because of the radio reception problem that’s present. I’ve pulled the rubber boots back in the tailgate and checked for broken wires but found none and I really don’t know what to check next.
Is there anything obvious I need to be looking at? It’s getting tiresome very quickly having the alarm sound every time I unlock the car and then having no radio to listen to on the way to work.
