Dental crown.

Hello everyone, I am due to have a new crown soon on one of my front teeth. I believe the NHS price for this is just under £300, but I am led to believe one can spend more than that and get a better crown. Does anyone know what the options are and how much it costs and whether it is worth me paying more than the standard NHS rate? As it is for one of my two front teeth I would obviously like it to look as good as possible.

A national health crown on front teeth may leave a dark line at the gumline it's the metal used to make the crown.

I had two crowns on front teeth last year. I did not have the NHS crowns I had Zirconia crowns paid for private.They were about £550 each but the teeth look real and have no discolouration at the gum line and wont even if the gum receeds.

Front pay for them private.

Rear NHS are good enough in fact probaly better (Stronger).

Ask your dentist they should be able to advise. Oh! and make a load of money also.

I'm in the middle of having one done privately. Temp crown fitted waiting for the final one. £800 ish and not in London. Ouch.

Recently had a crown - £570 for porcelain with 5yr g'tee that isn't worth the paper it is written on. Seems a bargain compared to the "NHS" option of looking like a bond villain.

NHS crowns are structurally fine as far as I can tell but are a gold-coloured metal. You can get a ceramic (I think) white crown fitted for £550 privately. If your budget allows it then it’s probably worth it for easily visible teeth.
