the MK1 R8s with the wave brakes (upgraded to DSG option as well?) had there setup tweaked a lot, they won a lot of praise from jurno's at the time for how good they are to drive, the V8 reportedly has better balance than the V10if i was after an R8 i would be after one of those
both are epic cars for different reasons, i would be happy with either or both lol

If I had the choice between the two I'd go for the C63S personally.

They are both epic cars which is why the decision is harder! if i was after an R8 i would be after one of those

This. If you've already got a 335D Xdrive OP then 'ordinary' car bases are covered. A V8 with the manual gearbox would be a completely different experience and a far more worthy 2nd/weekend car.

My only concern is the R8 May not feel as quick as the C63s (which I have a soft spot for). My head is saying R8 but heart is leaning towards C63. I’m trying to weigh it up with an unbiased opinion What I don’t want to do is buy one and regret it 6 months down the line
Here’s my thinking:
C63s; faster, newer tech, nicer interior, practical (although irrelevant for a second car), too similar to the 335d?
R8; more special/“exotic”, feels like a sports car rather than a standard car with bigger engine, slower, much older/looks dated now
I want to keep one of these cars for at least 3 years for a bit of fun. But, as I said, I don’t want to make the wrong choice

Seriously, do you have the latest gen coupe?R8, without doubt, especially as a second car.
Will feel like much more of an occasion to drive, less powerful and outright fast it may be, but you're lower to the ground, the engine is behind you, it will feel like a proper sharp go kart.
Also re your comment about it being older etc.. that may be true but I still turn my head when I see even the very oldest R8 on the road, they've aged incredibly well IMO (externally at least) - whereas the C63, or any of the current AMG, M, RS etc cars nowadays, as cool as they are just don't really garner the same reaction.
The latter point would be part of the appeal if the car was to be used daily / as a main vehicle, but not as a secondary / toy.
Also I dare say a slightly older R8 is likely to be more stable with value than a newer AMG Merc? Just an assumption, but I reckon you'd be at less risk of losing much money if you change your mind down the line and want to swap the R8.
