SUGGESTIONS: Best 2+2 GT Car

Hi all,

I’m considering replacing my TT with a proper 2+2 GT car. Now that I’m easing my way into middle age I need a second car that’s fun to drive, good on the motorway, and has just enough space for 2 kids and the old ball-and-chain...

I love the idea of the Mustang but the cramped back seats put me off.

Any other ideas?

If the Mustang's seats are too small then most 2+2's will be - what about a saloon instead? No mention of budget, but a Mustang would suggest lots of tasty options available.

Merc CL500. Second hand bargain of the century at the mo.

Yes, I've just bought one and it's bloody lovely. Fast, comfy, quiet, V8 noise when hoofing it, loads of toys and makes you feel like a king when driving it.

CL500 is a good shout. Also CLS looks like a good option.

I was thinking of a car around 5 years old.

Jaguar XKR Coupe has usable rear seats for small children. I have the Convertible, and that has 2 rear seats that will fit (just) my 11 years old twins. I'm 6'2" as well. Very tight mind. If you are shorter, more room for those n the back, if you are taller, well, get something else.

Good shout on XKR. I also have twins although my 5 year olds still require full on child seats. How is the Jag holding together these days?

TBH I love the idea of the XK but it’s age and reliability is putting me off.

My Dad is 5'11" and 65 years old, he can get in the back of my Mustang.

I'm 6ft5" though, and nobody can sit behind me.

Dad drives an XKR Convertible, it's on a 62 plate - no issues, although it doesn't do any miles. Jag servicing is always surprisingly good value as well.

They are a bit noisy on the motorway and they don't have lots of room in the rear seats...but I can highly recommend a Cerbera if you're feeling brave!

The fun and the sense of occasion will be off the scale!

The XK will have smaller space in the back than the Mustang, I'd say an CL/E500 ticks all the boxes especially the CL that i pure GT.

Cerbera???? No thanks, I want to go out and come home in the same car, not on the back of a breakdown wagon.

These are proper GT's both my dad & uncle are on their second CL500/63 respectively, even though I have an E500 these are a step on again.

640D Gran Coupe?

Yes I know it's diesel but the engine is a peach, they're a great GT car and hugely practical.

Get one in MSport Plus spec and plenty of gadgets as well.

£20k for a 5 year old one with a great spec and approved warranty, absolute used bargain IMHO.
