Hi guys
Got a VFR 400 Nc30 not been used for a long time cleaned out loads of green gunk in the carbs, bike runs but won’t tick over and petrol is coming out of over flow pipe. My thoughts are that the float valves are shot and it’s flooding the carbs but I’m not expert any info or advice would be great this must of happened before.
Cheers Cliff

You are probably correct that the float valves are sticking or shot, the lack of idle is probably the pilot jets (really small). May be worth getting the carbs ultrasonically cleaned, if you can get them (David Silver spares?) new float valves (possibly floats) and pilot jets wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hi thanks that’s just what I thought, with the tank off I could hear some sorta popping fizzing sound coming out of one of the carbs when the engine was not running (but was hot ) and then I saw fuel coming out of an overflow pipe I recon the carbs are flooding cos the valve has not shut off the fuel.
Look like a £60 rebuild kit.
Thanks Cliff
