Replacement Battery for a 996 GT4S ??
Discussion
Hi guys,
The battery in a friends 996 C4S (on an '02 plate) has expired (original Moll item). It seems that the received wisdom is best to fit a Bosch Silver - just been along to my local Bosch battery dealer and he quoted me £100 + VAT for a 'heavy duty' item (p/n on the quote says 574012068). This sounds quite a bit, especially when chcking some of the specialist websites I came across a line item that read someting like " Bosch silver - fits all 996 £64". I know that this particular dealer I went along to has a reputation of being pricey, and wouldn't put it past them to push up the price as soon as they hear the name Porsche. So, does anyone know the full Bosch p/n and what I should really be paying?
Cheers,
Pete (...from darkest Dorset).

People like German & Swedish do Bosch Silver batteries - phone them and tell them what cold cranking amps you want (it'll say something like 350 on the battery) and what capacity you want (it'll say something like 75Ah on the battery).

Guys, here in the colonies where it gets a lot colder with attendant hard starting problems, the rule of thumb to size the batterey by cold cranking amps (only) and to buy at least 1.5 CCA per cubic inch displacement. My thought is to stick the largest, i.e., in CCAs, batterey in that will fit. It'll last longer and therefore will be less costly.
