I received a text message simply stating a username and password from NOTICE (all caps just like that).

I tried adding it to my contacts to retrieve the number, however that just left the number field blank.

I then tried calling it and the number is 668423 which apparently is a 'short code number' (I hit hang up very sharpish!).

I guess this is possibly some kind of scam (but what?) or someone is trying to get into one of my online user accounts, however I've not had any email notifications, so I'm not quite sure what the purpose of this is...

Any suggestions as to what this might be (other than spam) are welcome!

Probably designed so you reply to it and accept an automatic £50 deduction from your phone bill.

That's interesting and probably what a lot of people would do - as when I googled the number, one of the suggestions was to text back with 'Help'....

Yeah like that would be a good idea to an unsolicited text message.
What if their SMS billing software had been programmed to accept the word HELP instead of YES as confirmation of accepting a subscription request?
The best response is no response. Just calling the number could cost you money.

Which is why I did none of the above (called, but just to see the number) it didn't even connect.

It appears to have infected your phone with an awful font, sorry to say. Hope you get it resolved.

Ironically, malware in fonts is actually a thing, so it may be the other way around..

Unsolicited texts like that just get ignored, of course they’re bks. Why even think about it?

I guess suffering from mental health problems, these things play on my mind, I do have money issues, but these are being managed.

It just caught me off guard and at a time when I was vulnerable

I hope I can put this matter to bed now and try to move on
