I got this little jem , not my handiwork but that of a very cleaver fellow in Scotland.
Its great but too loud by far , it really is noisy as hell and there seems to be some sort of baffle already in there .

Any one have a suggestion of alternative tail pipes that are quiet or a Sussex/Surey based company that can make them quiet

Thanks

It has two pipes one either side

The exhausts look like eBay specials, about £30 each.

Buying any decent exhausts marked as road legal will solve the issue. Just check the inlet diameter.

You could also try taking out the baffles and fitting bigger/better ones. Also available on eBay.

Not being facetious at all, but have you thought about ear plugs?

Find the OE exhaust system for it, or a reputable/popular system which old boxer riders swear by.

I'd be interested to hear what solution you come up with as my bike is fitted with what appears to be the same pipe and I also think it's too loud. There are various noise reducer type inserts on ebay but I'm not sure 100% on what would fit.

Could you cope with the original style of silencer?

There are plenty of second hand ones around. They are very quiet and I believe the longer silencers maximise torque.

They might just look a bit odd on a street scrambler.

I would caution against trying a 2-1 system like that fitted to the R100R or the GS.

They work OK with the original huge and heavy collector box under the swinging arm, but many people replace the collector box with a simple Y piece. I used to have an R100R and fitted a Y piece. I am sure that it didn't breath as nicely as the two into two exhaust fitted to most air cooled BMWs.

For a lovely sound, with added BMW retro flair, I recommend Hoske mufflers, available in 2 > 2 (new) or in 2 > 4 (used) version.
Deep and growling without being too fekkin loud.

A friend of a friend owns this classic bike repair place in Horley:

Having just gone through a noisy exhaust problem on a car I know they can be hard work to get right.

Thanks for the comments on ear plugs , they wont stay in the exhausts when I start up .
I have actually worn them for more than 30 years , they were not common place when I started but my dad had bad tinnitus and actually I have it now too .
Its the passers by and neighbours I am trying to think of.

Its obnoxiously loud .

Simply ride faster, and you'll be exposing them to the noise for less time.

I’m watching this thread intently, as I hate really loud exhausts.

I just don’t get it? A nice hum note and exhaust note are lovely - we all know that. Making it noisier just to be noisier, though? Silliness.
