Good evening,
Hoping people can give their advice.
I am looking to buy an MG ZR 160. Unfortunately, I recently wrote-off my current Trophy Blue ZR, and would love to get another one. They're great fun to drive, and pretrty affordable to run too.
The 160 versions are pretty rare now, so limited choice available. Found what looked a lovely one on Ebay, (2002 year, same colour as my written-off model, about 63k miles, 3 owners from new of which the first one was MG club, cambelt changed in last year, little to no rust, good MOT history). Seller seemed extremely genuine and helpful. I bid for it and went as high as £1750 but the car sold for £1800 and I got outbid,
Seen another couple being sold by a garage in Keighley. Another Trophy Blue one and a red one also. Trophy BLue car looks the nicer of the two - the red one has mention of some structural rust on recent MOTs. Website link is below:

Fact garage only has a mobile number on its website to me is a little bit worrying.
And I have heard about the infamous car sales outfit in Keighley., (Motorhub),...
However, this seems to be a different garage run by different people, (although based in the same area of the town). Anyone aware of any links between the two companies?
Anyone has opinions on these two cars.
PS: not asking for any opinions on MG ZRs themselves. I'm aware lots of people don;t seem to like them, and I am well aware of the K series engine's liking for blown head gaskets, (although it is also a lovely free-revving engine),
However, if anyone has any opinions on these two cars, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The blue car looks like a pretty good example. Mot history advisories on front brakes but should be cheap enough to fix. No idea about the garage but if you are local why not go and have a look.
Yeah, I live in Norwich so a fair trek for me.It's probably worth a visit though.

This looks really dodgy to me.
Firstly, when I did a history check on it, car has had no tax on it since September 2015. Additionally, no new owner on V5 document since 2015.
I'm thinking this car could have been stolen, and been cloned. Owner says in advert he has obtained a replacement second key, and has only had the car for about a month.
Has a good MOT history, but maybe this really related to a different car. Incidentally, no MOT history between Feb 16 and Apr 19. Car passed latest MOT with no advisories.
Possibly the cloned car was scrapped in 2016/17?
Owner says he is selling because of a change in circumstances, (after doing a lot of work to the car since he bought it a month ago),
Dosesn;t advertise it as a trade sale. However, upon questioning him further, he is saying that he is in the trade, but is selling this privately as he needs a 3 door, rather tha 5 door car. added that the car has been standing for nearly four years since trader he knows bought it.
Years are out, as car gained around 10.5k in mileage betweeen MOTs in 2015 and 2016, but virtually nothing since.
I can be very naive unfortunately, but I'm thinking I should run for the hills away from this car.
Do others agree?

Too many red flags there, for my money.
Having owned a nightfire red, 54 plate ZR160 in the past, may I ask why you particularly want one, let alone another one? I get that it's a better drive than a 172 Cup Clio (despite the love they get on here) but have you considered moving "up" to a ZS180? They're much nicer and they don't have the hollow 2nd camshaft that breaks on 15,000 miles and ruins your VIP day at Silverstone that you won in a competition in 2007... Just me that one?
