Bon Scott Allowing There To Be Rock!
Discussion
I have just come across a double DVD featuring all the classic AC/DC promo videos, including my all time favourite, Let There Be Rock*, wherein Angus appears ceremonially moronic to an heroic degree and Bon Scott stands as Campus Maximum in the pulpit, miming in deliberate mistime to the overlaid track but showing off with such consumate ease and palpable swagger that had he not choked on vomit 25 years ago (:yikes:), I have little doubt that he would have been the premiere frontman in existence.
I urge anyone with a fragment of humour about their person to rush out and do the honours, it is simply superb.
(* I have been waiting to get my hands on this for nearly 20 years! Pitiful but :bounce:)

Thanks for the heads up, sir.
Recently one of the music channels was showing back to back AC/DC vids. I piped it through my somewhat potent stereo and.....was sixteen again for a glorious hour!
I used to play pretty much all the AC/DC hits as they're not terribly difficult...
Great fun.

There's something about the creeping first few bars of Hell's Bells that stands the hairs on the back of my neck up.
And the sheer 'arrival at night with the roof down' sound of What Do You Do For Money Honey?, of course.
'Back In Black' has to be one of my favourite albums.
Too right. I can't hear any kind of church bells without starting to hum Hell's Bells.
I love AC/DC, they don't care what's cool or what the current style is, they just rock.

Quality stuff, for sure but this thread is an ode to the original chap: Brian's a great man, no doubt but I'm afraid Bon's expiry signified the demise of more charm and character per cubic nanometre of humanity than has ever gone before or indeed, since: he was utterly magical and just seeing him smirk, roll his eyes and gesture has me blubbing into rose tinted sorrow for what might have been.
Musical magic dust.

Best regards & "shoot to thrill"

The video from which I have drunk hitherto, now worn into total submission but still the stuff of legend, is the Paris show from 1979 with Judas Priest supporting.
It remains the most enthralling, intense flaggon of sweaty hard rock ever performed.
The fact that there is a delightfully spurious, video interlude during 'Walk All Over You,' during which drummer Phil Rudd is seen razzing around in an original 928 makes it all the more sublime.
Technically, we have squirrel with more accomplished repertoires but for the instigation of an ethos requiring a quasi-religous fervour, one can almost forgive the lads' antipodean origins.
Makes me proud to be a subject of Empire!

I put my increasing deafness down to a combination
of clear, crisp winter mornings, a roofless Griffith
500 with a weapons-grade sports exhaust and......
...and "Down Payment Blues" as loud as it would go.
Ah....happy days.
I know that it's evil
I know that it's got to be
Know I ain't doing much
Doing nothing means a lot to me

What would AC/DC be like if they'd joined up with Jimmy Barnes instead of Brian Johnstone?
For those of you who don't know of Jimmy Barnes (shame on you!), If you've ever seen the film "the Lost Boys", the track near the beginning "Good Time Tonight" is him. He also sang at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, he was the gravel voiced denim and leather clad geezer singing "Working Class Man".

Scott was superb! he could growl effortlessly and Johnson can never compare. I would have expected to meet you at the NEC in June to see the mighty Rammstein old fruit seeing as how you are a fan of (some) things Germanic

Bon...making Brian Robertson look like a balding amateur.
Would that be brian johnson ?![]()

Nobody spotted it sooner???
Shows the regard I hold him in.... AC/DC were a very different band before Bon died, more R'n'R, less Metal.
[wistful memory]I remember him carrying Angus out into the crowd on his shoulders at The Hammersmith Odeon without any minders[/wistful memory]
I kind of hoped Rose Tattoo would pick up the torch, but that petered out.
