This will be our 11 time to Le Mans which started back in 1991. It's quite a jaunt from Alberta. Normally we fly Calgary / Gatwick rent a car and catch the Poole / Cherbourg ferry, but this year decided to try something a little different. WestJet have just started a direct flight Calgary to Paris on the Dreamliner so we thought we'd try it out.

Leave Monday, over night in Paris on Tuesday, trip up the tower and meal in Pigalle. Wednesday we catch the 10.00 TGV to Le Mans and then a cab to Travel Destinations campsite at the Porsche Curves. Fortunately part of our team is from Poole, so chairs, table & tents will be bought across in the car.

Love the Travel Destinations location and set up. Yes, it's a little more expensive but in my opinion worth every penny. Always enjoy the track action on Wednesday.

Our Schedule

Wednesday afternoon & evening track action
Thursday same, evening at Arnage & Indy (much easier to get there on Thursday, less people)
Friday were doing the English Car Show & Arnage Village in the evening
Saturday Porsche Curves, late evening at Tertre Rouge
Sunday Porsche Curves & beer tent
Monday fly Paris / Calgary

Cant wait.

Sounds like a great trip.

Bonus for me is that you aren’t going to the drivers parade which gives me a little more elbow room!!!

30 days for me.
Seemed to drag so slowly, as I booked this one straight after returning in 2018 - but it's going quick now.

This will be my third Le Mans, and my journey is similar to yours (starting in the UK though).

Flight to Paris CDG, TGV to Le Mans - staying at Premier Vert.
Tent and sleeping bag already set up ready for when I arrive.
TGV back to Paris for a sleepover Sunday after the race, and Dinner close to Pigalle (Le Basilic, just up the hill from Moulin Rouge).

Apart from not being able to smuggle cheap beer into the site by car - it's a lot more pleasant than driving.

Sounds like you've got a plan this year. If you need details still on the Mulsanne straight let me know and I'll get in touch...but you'll need bikes.
Otherwise have a great trip!!!

What's the restaurant like? We are looking for something in the heart of Pigalle, small traditional. Any suggestions. I didn't understand your comment on beer in the site.

Heh no problem

We are coming over from a mixed bag - Isle of Man, Liverpool, London, Oxford and Warwick!!!
10 of us in total, staying near to Tetre Rouge

I'll call you on Friday morning, I can give you the details of where to go and how the route to get there. We are on bicycles, its something like 3.5KM walk from Tetre Rouge, so ideally you need bikes, a taxi, or comfortable shoes! See if you can sort a taxi to book for Saturday say about 8pm - tell them its to drive the back rounds half way down the Mulsanne straight, then pick up around say 10:30pm to take you back to Tetre Rouge

I read a bit of your site. One of our guys used to go the Isle of Man Rally a lot as a spectator, I think he was quite into it. Another of the guys actually had a Talbot Lotus Sunbeam back in the day.

Is there any particular location on the Mulsanne that we could meet you guys?
