Buying V12 Vantage carbon edition
Discussion
Hi,
Looking at buying my first Aston and like the look of the one at Cheltenham Aston for £69k. 3 former owners and roughly 30 on the clock.
Does this represent fair value given their warranty etc and does anyone know the car. Number of owners and mileage perhaps a little high but tempted all the same.
Any advice appreciated

Do you know about this one, goatherder?

A longstanding PHer, 17,000 miles, rare colour.
I wouldn’t consider the mileage particularly high at 29k, this is an 8 year old car, so as long as it has been serviced annually all should be good. Less goes wrong when you use them!
Looking into it, it has had the benefit of a warranty all its life, and as servicing is a stipulation of warranty, all the stamps should be present. I believe Cheltenham AM (Broughton’s) sold the car originally so probably hasn’t ventured much out of the area.
Have you enquired with the dealer yet?

Yep, started engaging. All history present and main dealer, as you say. I was at Cheltenham for a few hours earlier today and there was a grey v12v parked under the canopy outside reception as I walked out. I thought it looked superb. Assuming it’s the same one.Looking at buying my first Aston and like the look of the one at Cheltenham Aston for £69k. 3 former owners and roughly 30 on the clock.

As for the mileage, I’d say the price reflects the miles but I wouldn’t worry anyway. For this age car there is an ongoing debate about low v used mileage. I’ve seen many a post where people have more trouble with cars that have low miles and not used much compared to those that have. Either way at that price I can’t see you losing a great deal even sticking another 10k on the clock, in an ever declining market the lowest price v12v cars seem to be holding that sort of money and have done for some time.
Cheltenham for what it’s worth is a great dealership and I’d highly recommend them having had 4 cars from them over 10 years.

Ahh didn't realise they came standard in the carbon edition I would be seriously considering that car then
They didn’t, and by the looks of it the Cheltenham one has the heated sports seats. There is another black V12 up at Redline for £5k less with the lightweight bucket seats though, but not a carbon edition...

Strange. Everything I’ve read says the core construction is lightweight or lighter than the standard seats although clearly not bucket seats. I’ve seen people post about the need for lightweight seats. Asides from weight saving, obviously, what’s the deal breaker? I’ve also read people saying the lightweight seats aren’t so good for the manual because it can be awkward to shift? There is another black V12 up at Redline for £5k less with the lightweight bucket seats though, but not a carbon edition...
The consensus seems to be that the lightweights are more comfortable (although for some it is otherwise). They obviously look much better.
They save weight but if you have a big lunch you probably negate that.
I would argue they hold you much better in place during spirited driving.
Either way they appear to command a premium and be more desirable so would help residuals (theoretically).

Inside, owners will be greeted to swathes of Obsidian Black leather highlighted with a contrast silver coarse stitch all hand stitched by the craftspeople at Gaydon – Aston Martin’s global headquarters in England.
Lightweight seats formed from Carbon Fibre and Kevlar saving 17 kg over the standard seat also feature together with Piano black facia trim, centre stack and centre console, anodised black tread plates and unique sill plaques build on the carbon theme. The Aston Martin 700w Premium Audio System is delivered as standard in the V12 Vantage while the DBS boasts the Bang & Olufsen Beosound DBS audio system as standard.
