I am wondering if getting my GT3 991.2 detailed + coated with gtechiq crystal serum (ultra) is worth the money?
It sounds like it would save polishing time, and maybe provide a small degree of protection from minor scratches.
Are there down sides beyond cost ? Any experiences welcome ? Thank you.

I did it myself, easy enough and does make the car very easy to clean.

Think the kit was about £35

I spent two days prepping the car with a mop

I used C Quartz but effectively thecsame stuff

The Ultra is great. Got it on my X5M and 488 Spider. Worth getting a full paint correction first and then professionally applied. So hard it can only be removed via wet sanding. Offers incredible gloss, ease of washing and swirl protection. Does not offer any protection against stone chips. For each of my new cars is delivered straight to detailers for 3-4 day paint correction and coating. Quite incredible how much the paint can be improved and sealed imo. £1,000-£1,200 well spent.

I've gone the diy route in the past with decent results, but bit the bullet with my current car and had it professionally applied from new. I think it was worth it, but I keep it topped up with Gyeon wet look which is very easy to apply. Won't protect the paint from scratches, chips or swirls though, you need PPF if that's what you want to achieve. Cost me 600 for paint and wheels on an RS6 so would expect to pay less for a 911

Worth it IMO as dirt is so much easier to remove. I made a point of not washing the car so often with bucket and Mitt. Use a foam lance pre- wash with bilt hamber then hose after 10 mins. This removes most of the dirt and grime, just blow it dry with the leaf blower. That way I avoid creating swirl marks by contact. Still I usually give it a full bucket wash every month.

I think I have the crystal serum black, cost 800 quid for new car detail in 2017.
