Retro Fit Power Steering --- o

Been done... just throw 2 grand to a dealer and they will change the rack, add the pump, reservoir, change the steering column UJs and shafts and voila PAS. You can buy yourself a beer with the change.

just priced this up for a customer .. you're not far off - at daeler labour rates it would be 2k. some of the jokey replie on this thread don't seem so silly now ...

So with J'speed, it's buy a beer and a pint.
The 520 had to have all the PAS stuff bar the rack replaced to go with the Serp engine and it was not cheap... Fortunately I was spending so much else where that it seemed noise at the time... until I got the credit card bill.

Probably "nice to have"! We used our Chim to tour around France a lot and in the summer of 2001 spent days going round the moutains, small "D" and "C" roads.
Without PAS it wasn't a relaxed drive, used to be completely stuffed at the end of the day! This year we've had 3 trips round France with PAS which was much better. Its a lot easier to catch the rear when it steps out with PAS, from personal experience!

Hmmmmm........Bought my 4.3 earlier this year without PAS consideration. Had heard before that PAS was considered a bit "girlie" and you lost connection with the car so wasn't concerned. My previous wedge had it and was OK. This is the first car in about 10 years I have driven without PAS and I do find it bloody hard work. I've decided to persevere at least til next year then consider a change. Maybe.

Usually a theory put about by ex-hairdressers...
Does this mean that all the Tuscan racers are girlies in a girlish applied to men sort of way? Or the F1 boys? I don't think so. I would not buy a Griff or Chimaera without it because it improves my ability to react and control the car. I have had both BTW. It is a personal choice in the end, though.
