Chaps I’m with a cloth seller now who prints 3 copies of an invoice with even 1 pair of jeans.

Surely there is a short cut?

Well obviously, there's a pair of genes [sic] so that's two, and the other is for someone else.

(Sorry, I know that's glib and I've just asked for some serious help here, but I just couldn't help myself.)

Typically one is attached to the shipment, one is used by the carrier to input the data at collection depot and one is imaged and sent to the port of exit to ensure clearance once it arrives

Yep understand but not every carrier requires it and we’re struggling to automate it based on geo tags / AI - might have to tell them to manually print * 3 or change carrier!

Can any of the people that require visibility of the document receive it electronically?

Apparently not! Archaic but we got a dev to write a rule that if a conventional post code isn’t detected it automatically prints 3 invoices. They will go though forests.....

Can't there be a carrier field against every order and a carrier table with a yes/no for 3 invoice requirement?

Who's the carrier? I've done a couple of software dev projects with Metapack and eBay in the past and can't think of a carrier that doesn't electronically manifest.

UPS are trying to get our business at the moment and one of the USP’s they are flogging to death is the lack of commercial docs for foreign consignments. I’m told this is due to them managing the entire process with the airports as they have their own planes etc.

So if you are using UPS do you even need to be doing this?

Cheers

Thanks Russ, this is a very analogue business and we’re going off the established procedures - we need to ask more questions.

Cheers all.

Ps are you using Klaviyo ? it’s gaining huge momentum
