Hi all,

I'm on the hunt to buy a Polo GTi (6c 1.8) since I've sold my Abarth.

I had nothing but issues with my Abarth and I purchased that brand new so warranty was important during my ownership.

Now is it worth me buying a GTi from a main VW dealer so it comes with 12 months warranty? or are other extended warranties worth it?

Cheers

I’ve dealt with a few VW main dealers and they’ve all had good customer service. That said they’ll charge a fair bit more. Might work cheaper buying elsewhere and getting VW’s extended warranty separately: https://www.insurewithvolkswagen.co.uk/extended-wa...

One word of caution about warranty from dealers. Couple of years ago I bought a Skoda from a main dealer. Still had a little manufacturers warranty but knowing Skoda offer extended warranties I asked them to extend an extra year. Certainly sir!
I was a happy chap, until the paperwork came through a couple of weeks later and it was actually a third party warranty. After a lot of research they will give you an "approved warranty" which doesn't necessarily mean a manufacturers warranty.
Wording was very similar for VW too. So be cautious and check what you are getting. A lot of none main dealers do offer decent warranties (a lot are rubbish too) so do your research. Most are provided by 3rd parties anyway.
