Looks better than the movie from a few years ago.
I hope the viewing figures are good enough to make the other 2 stories.

Brilliant. The books have so much potential for film/TV. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, whether it is the fact that they're based in Oxford which is where I grew up or the the idea of an animal daemon which gives it an almost metaphysical feel.

That was an utter travesty of the books. Hopefully this will be better.

I've just seen it is on BBC1 at 8pm. Clearly not going to have that HBO edge then!

Adam Buxton has a fantastic, long and in-depth podcast interview with Phillip Pullman out at the moment... Well worth an hour of your time. He's no fan of C.S. Lewis, it turns out...

Strictly speaking it was a travesty of the first book.

Well indeed, good point. Do we know if this one covers all three. Covering one was pointless, as the punchline comes at the end!

First series covers the first book with parts of La Belle Sauvage included, such as Lord Asriel delivering Lyra to Oxford as an opening. Series 2, on which most filming is complete, covers book 2. I am very hopeful about this being good.

It was a travesty of parts or the first book with enough missed out or altered to have me confused and I have read the whole set several times.
