Agency paid into old bank details
Discussion
Just like to get some opinions on this please.
My agency paid my invoice into the wrong account and are now refusing to pay me until they receive the funds back.
They have performed an MT104 trace and confirmed that the funds have debited the account, though my bank advised that those account details are no longer valid and payment should have been automatically rejected. I do understand it could be in a holding account for now.
What are my options?
For additional info, my bank changed their BIC & IBAN, I advised my agency of the new details in December, they kept paying using the old details and my bank were able to receive the payment until a change in their internal processes sometime in April. My bank no longer have a contract with their old intermediary service and nothing they can do to resolve the issue.

be prepared for a long wait or a fight, I think, which isn't fun.
About 12 years ago I was doing payroll admin as part of my job, the simple stuff of entering staff hours onto the system, and dealing with general enquiries. Passing on the difficult stuff to the more senior people who knew their thing
One new person started and somewhere along the way, incorrect bank details were entered onto the system. Something like a badly hand-written 1 that kind of looked like a 7.
Come pay day, all fine at the end I can see, a payslip was generated and handed out showing all the correct amount, but, no pay had gone in.
Took 6 weeks for the bank and our company payroll to try and sort out. During which time I couldn't understand why the company, proudly making £Xm per year couldn't stump up the £900 error to tide this employee over until the resolution came through until next month. They got their second month's pay before they got their first month's pay

Thanks for the feedback, similar situation here where the agency makes millions a year as they are one of the big players in the UK for certain types of jobs. Atleast the agency are taking it seriously, the finance manager called me on Monday and they are personally involved in this matter now.
It's nearly been 3 weeks, and I'm also expecting this month's pay to land before last month's does. I've called the bank it was sent to and they can't do anything to help, I know someone who works there and has the right level of access to check the account themselves but haven't gone down that route due to the consequences it could have.
