Does anydody know which ford the track rod ends and steering gaiters come from on a 1988 350i have trird various boxes at local motor factors with no luck. Also does anyone have any idea why one of my headlights comes up but will not go down, it will go manually down and used to go down if left and not looked at for a couple of hours. I think I cursed it till the end of time and now it refuses to retract out of spite. Any help appreciated.

Genuine rack gaiters are like hens' teeth and cost a mint if you can find any.
Aftermarket ones are like a wizard's sleeve; because they need to be so long (particularly on one end) they do a good job of turning inside-out and don't last too long in my experience. Still, what choice do you have?

As to the headlamp, it's probably a dodgy limit switch in the motor gearbox, or a ratty connection. There are a bundle of connectors feeding the motor, try pulling them apart and cleaning them.
