We all know about pens, USB power packs, mouse mats (I worked for a company 2 years ago that thought these were still relevant - don't ask).

But what are the gizzits that get everyone talking, or that everyone will still use a week after they've been given it? I've got more USB power packs than I know what to do with - fantastically useful but doesn't make me think of the company on it any more. My most used gizzit is an insulated metal water bottle from my old company which is more or less indestructible, and an international plug converter - but this just seems really dull.

Long story short - start up company, outsourcing in aircraft operations.

Personally, these are the branded things I get given and still find myself using years later.

-Lanyards
-Decent quality notebooks/pads
-Pens
-Tape measures

Nothing too out there, but all inherently useful

Launched a company last year and had the same thoughts. Ended up with:

Branded credit card 'protectors' (so no one can use the contactless feature without you taking it out)

A small rubber stress toy in the shape of a brick with our logo (I launched a commercial mortgage lender)

Branded bottle openers (sent with some beers)

Branded, good quality golfing umbrellas

Be careful with the pricing on the above, it differs wildly from supplier to supplier.

Plus you can never have too many pens and notebooks (remember to not have them dated to a specific year).

also coloured and branded "ray bons" in a wayfarer style went down well too
