Classic TT / Manx GP
Discussion
Been to MGP, it is quieter than TT and even the classic in first weekend. Classic is becoming very busy in it's own right now.
MGP definitely attracts less 'heroes' partly as it's way lower key and also there is no one way over the mountain. You can go, enjoy the racing, enjoy your time on roads there. Either way do it. It really is a Nirvana for bikers in general.

I used to be a TT regular, however for the last four years, we've been going to the Classic/Manx instead.
The major differences are:-
Less people overall, although eating out can still be very busy, book a table in plenty of time.
There are less a
holes hooning, way beyond their natural ability level.
Not all the campsites that are open for the TT are open for the Classic/Manx, so you still need to book in advance.
The weather for the last three years has been awful, very cold for August, and lots of rain and mist, take warm clothes.
The classic racing is great, you'll see all types of machinery racing, that you won't see at the TT.
The Classic Superbike races are not much slower than the current TT races.
The Manx GP competitors are the future TT racers, basically three classes super lightweight, (250 2T's, 400's), lightweight (650 twins, same as TT and 600's), senior, (anything up to 750cc). These guys are not holding back and although they're mostly novices you can watch them getting faster and faster with every session.
Unlike the TT the Manx is not just a procession of R6's going round and round, there is a huge variety of machinery
The only disappointment for me, personally, there are no sidecar events.
There's loads of stuff to do, shows, meet ups, events, probably more than there is at the TT and with fewer people around they're easier to access.
We're probably going to stick to the Classic/Manx now, it's simply more interesting and you're not fighting for a spot to watch from, it's like the TT was back in the 80's! Where else are you going to see an, ex Grand prix 500cc, 2T, at the absolute limit?
