Hi all, I am sure the topic of Warranties has been covered many times.. I had a more general question - not whether to have a warranty as this seems to be a personal risk choice.. More that - when making a new purchase - some Indies are providing their own workshop backed warranty (great)..

Some garages are not and provide a third-party warranty.. Hence the Q on whether this is even worthwhile taking vs choosing your own company for that warranty.. I haven't seen that many '09 997 Carreras (C4S or C2S) for sale still under original Porsche warranty.

I was looking at a nice white 997 online at Redline (they seem to have an amazing stock!).. They offer a 6 month 3rd party warranty (£500 claim which seems not that useful).. Then sell the same company 3rd party warranty (with much broader coverage).. The 3rd party is 'WMS Group'

Cheers

Hi I have a few customers with this warranty company, and so far they have paid for everything.

I have replaced rear wiper motor and door lock on 2010 Cayenne, and i think selector cables on Boxster with no hassle.

That's my old car for sale... it should still have a 5 month Porsche warranty on it until end of October 2019

Shame they pulled Lord Flash’s thread about his M5 engine thread.

It’s opened my mind WRT 3rd party warranties

A lot of the top dealers self warranty, via 3rd party call centre.

Hi all - thank you for the replies.. now looking at another that has 3 months base and then suggested 12 months with warrantywise.. any concerns with Quentin Wilson’s favourite company? 😁

Afzala - thank you for letting me know. They had no mention of existing Porsche warranty. Lovely car .

thanks, it is a great car for anyone looking. It's a shame the dealer is not listing it's full spec. It also has the 20mm lowered sports suspension amongst other bits not listed. Anyone interested ..please let me know and i can fill you in with the cars impeccable history

Non-Porsche dealers can't pass the warranty on to you.
