DB11AMR or Vanquish 2 S ?
Discussion
Hoping to stay with AM for my next 2+2. Both cars can be similar money at the moment for approved used. I would appreciate feedback on which one you would choose (or have) and why.
At the moment I am swaying towards the DB11 for practical reasons mainly (no squeaking ceramics, surround view, slightly more rear space and not carbon bodied). A little worried that DB11 ownership would come with huge depreciation if AM bring out any more ‘specials’ / facelift or upgrade the hardware of whats already on offer as it is a current model. Whereas the Vanquish is finished so there isnt really any gamble, just the slow residual decline.....
I do like driving my cars quite hard when I get the opportunity so handling does need considering.
Toyed with the idea of a DB9GT (rare but not enough of a change to warrant the cost), and no I dont fancy a Rapide.

Not driven a DB11 AMR only the early V12 which I loved.
However I will be keeping my Vanquish S and here are some reasons why.
The noise
Non squeaky brakes
CarPlay
Carbon Fibre body
Flagship model
Last flagship N/A V12 "might" help residuals
Adore the looks even though I'm a big 2nd Century fan
Plenty of space for the 6 and 8yro
Did I mention, the noise
As for handling, on standard UK roads, I can keep up with the kids in their V12 AMR Vantage's

Of those I’d go Vanquish.
Former top of the line model.
N/A engine
Should depreciate less
Better looking - in the eye of the beholder though
FYI - I have ceramic brakes on my V12VS and they haven’t squeaked once in almost five years.

Vanquish S personally. I think they look more impressive than a db11 amr, have come down quite a bit in the last 10 months (nearly bought one last year) so represent good vfm and without having a crystal ball I think they will depreciate less than the 11. I think if I bought the db11 (even an amr), I’d be constantly looking over my shoulder longingly at a DBS. I don’t think that would be the case with a Vanquish S.

Biased reply here from a DB11 owner. 11 because much more modern, everything works, even better looking, 5 year service package. I admit it doesn't sound quite as good, but it sounds great against any other yardstick. A back-to-back drive in both is the only way to really know for sure, and see which tugs you in the feels the most. I think though, it's not a forgone conclusion that one is better than the other. Vanquish S was IMO the best car produced out of the last gen cars. It had the looks, the theatre, the rarity, that noise, a superb chassis and a refined, improved transmission.
The DB11 AMR is quite different; take an already brilliant GT car, revise the damping, sprinkle a bit of AMR trickery on it, add a bit more power, and you have probably 7/10th's of a DBSS experience for a chunk less money. It's a very handsome car, and can be specced minus the lime accent elements to tone down the more overt nature of it relative to the original V12. On the sound front, there isn't as big a difference in noise as might be expected - certainly the decibel level is up at 11 with the Vanquish S, but for quality of noise, the DB11 isn't left trailing. The AM31 lump makes a wonderful noise in all states of tune.
For me, the Vanquish S is what the heart says, the AMR is what the head says. I don't think you'd feel short changed by either though. A difficult decision but a nice problem to have

You probably know this already Soof, but treat the “how many left” numbers with a large pinch of salt; the cars are very often mis-classified; so a DB11 AMR could easily end up being recorded as a DB11 and likewise with the DB9GT
I’d be hugely surprised if there were only 21 DB11 AMRs in the UK. Dealer demos would probably account for that number alone

I agree Rob. It is odd there are so few AMRs on the database. With the GT the story I have been told by the dealers is that most 2+2 buyers went for the Vanquish 2 cars from 2013-4 onwards so very few gen 2 DB9(GT)s were sold.I’d be hugely surprised if there were only 21 DB11 AMRs in the UK. Dealer demos would probably account for that number alone
