I recently purchased a second hand Audi S1, which came in an cost option exclusive colour of Sprint Blue...Having done some fairly extensive research online and speaking to some dealers, I do not think there were many around in this colour, which makes it a little rarer.

I appreciate that the Audi Exclusive colour range has over 100 colours but genuinely not seen another S1 in this colour.

Being rather curious, I sent an email to Audi HQ in Germany to enquire. The communication went back down to Audi UK, where the reply was, sorry we cannot give you this information as this is internal only.. I pressed them why they could not release this info, as surely it does not compromise anyone or create any risk, they just came back with - this information is only to be used internally in Audi.

I am coming to the conclusion that maybe they do not know how to get the information, or it is way too much hassle for them.. Any other reason why they would not share this info with a consumer. Surely GDPR cannot have anything to do with it?

Have you got the Audi connect app? If not, you can put the VIN in and it tells you all the options.

If you want to know how many other cars are the same colour, they just might not have someone available to find the numbers

Yes, got the app. When you have an exclusive colour, the app is actually no good, as it cannot tell what colour it left the factory..

I agree, probably they have info, they cannot be bothered to pull it..

From Audi's point of view, there's absolutely no benefit to them to go to the trouble of finding the number and sharing it. It's probably not that hard for them to find out.

It's meant to be "exclusive" - so there probably aren't many (wasn't it a 2k option or something silly?)

Yes, the first owner spent £1,840 on the paint smile

Each option, paint colour etc has an internal order code. Exclusive paints all share the same code, the suppling dealer specifies the colour manually.

By releasing the numbers of cars, or of a particular model could in their eyes reduce the exclusivity of it, maybe not so much for 2nd owners but for the first owner.

Imagine paying 2k for a slightly different paint job to be told that another 2000 people in the UK opted for the same - would take the shine off that exclusivity and their (Audi) price tag.
