I have had a 2014 Suzuki Alto (made by Maruti in India) for a few weeks now and really like this car. The one issue I have is with the front seats, the side cushioning is shot so it leans me into the door, the bottoms of both seats are sunk where they meet the seatback causing sore backs and neck for both front seat passengers. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the prospect of changing the front seats from another car. Would I have to use Suzuki Alto seats? Could I use seats from a different Suzuki model? Or could I even use seats from a different make of car (VW, Ford, or whatever)? I would imagine that the framework/tracks/sliders under the seat have to line up to bolt holes in the body, seat belt fastenings have to conform for MOT and insurance, and ultimately the seats have to fit in this small car.

If anyone has any insight or experience about this I would be grateful for any tips or advice.

I don't know that car, but if it's a conventional floor mounted seat it should be relatively simple to fit a replacement seat as long as it will physically fit in the space. However, you may struggle to find a garage willing to take responsibility for a potentially safety critical design change. You best chance would probably be an independent backstreet garage - stay away from franchises or larger companies where the people controlling the business are not the ones managing the work.
