Noisy neighbours
Discussion
Our office in London is in a building with 5 floors of which we are the lowest. In the next-door building, which is joined to ours but not owned by the same landlord, there is excavation work going on, which we understand involves digging out a new basement.
They are using some sort of breaker in there, and with the buildings all being concrete the noise is incredible. It's also causing lightweight things (panels, monitors on stands, etc) to vibrate. I have a dB app on my phone and in the noisiest part of the office it's averaging out about 84dB, peaking well into the 90s. I don't know how accurate that is though.
It's impossible to talk to someone more than 5 feet away and it's destroying concentration.
The landlord has said that there is FA he can do about it. What next? Local council environmental health?

Have you not gone next door to find out how long the noise is likely to last?
Been round since I posted and spoken to the site manager. There are going to be varying levels of noise for some time but he was willing to try and find ways to mitigate as much as possible. I was slightly ahead of myself in posting, seeking next steps should I have received a PFO from the guy.Gassing Station | Business | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
