On my other thread trying to track down a noise in the top of my engine that comes on at 3100 I have found that 3 rocker pads are loose on the rockers.

Phoning around seems that new ones are a bit thin on the ground.

Might be able to get mine refurbished but in mean time I'd like to at least reassemble the engine and test run it to see if that really is the issue.

This is what I have ...............

Has anyone got any idea where I might get 2 left and 2 right alloy rockers ?

V8 Developments provided me with a pair of refurbed rocker shaft assemblies a while ago, may be better to go down this route for peace of mind.

I have a box full of them Frank wink
Let me dig them out and get back to you, off a 450 standard engine with 48,000 miles on the clock, everything was quiet when they were removed.

Are they the same throughout! Not handed or anything?

In fact I have every piston ring and shell to the head gaskets that all came off my engine when Dom rebuilt it like 8 years ago biggrin

True, might be the safest option.

Thats brilliant, V8D can refurb mine but will take time and I'm itching to know if that was my "tappety noise" Fitting 3 good ones even used ones should help answer that. If not I can carry on digging deeper and maybe pull the cam next.
Will call you tomorrow fella if thats ok ?

They're handed.

Powers do them but make sure you get the right metal, alloy or steel. You may have to call them.

No worries, about 9 am if you can. I’ll be busy and won’t hear phone after 9.30 ish Frank.
If you can get to Dunchurch around 11.30 I could drop a pile off.

Another update.....

Have now fitted 4 similar replacement alloy rockers thanks to big Al aka classichimi

I also inspected the cam, the lifters, the push rods and all seems well.

Its nearly all back together so wish me luck tomorrow when I will see 8f the rattle at 3100rpm has now gone.

If it has gone then I will get all the rockers refurbed as preventative maintenance.

The steel rockers are first cheap compared to alloy. I assume the alloy ones are quieter or more forgiving on components?
