We current have an area of the business we are looking to develop. The issue is that he process for delivery is pretty broken at the moment, which is causing a lot of issues, borked orders etc.

Its not my area but I can see that something needs to be done. The problem as I see it is that there is no form of work booking, order tracking, process control. So I feel we need to implement some form of system that the staff will use to book order on, track its process within the company as it goes through different departments, get alerts when orders are over due, or need progressing to the next stage.

I was wondering whether anyone knows of a small scale solution that exists that we could implement which would do this.

Thanks

My software dev company (3 people) has been building such a product for the last three years. It also does a bunch of other stuff (electronic delivery notes, links to accounts system, telephone integration, and various other "useful" systems integrations). We're live with two customers and just in the process of rolling out a third. Whereabouts are you and what's the industry?

I have used a few (business process workflow management tools) inc SharePoint, Pega, Azure logic aps and Clarizen, however there seem to be a few cheaper and cheerful products around, such as

Monday.com and Kissflow.com

Your biggest issue with anything like this will be whether an off the shelf package works for your company (i.e. helps your company run / grow) or whether you have to tweak your processes to fit in with the options allowed by the system...

most companies into which we have put systems end up with fairly custom systems - so it is worth considering what you need / how standard it is - can you fit in which how a developer thinks you work - or do you need the system to support your current approach. If your processes are quite simple then a bespoke system may not be too expensive - equally, you may be more likely to fit into off the shelf software... The more specific / complex your processes, then the less likely it is that you will fit into standard software, equally, it will be more expensive to build a bespoke system. Generally simple now with future additional complexity means go bespoke as you get exactly what you need and it is affordable in stages...

difficult to advise without knowing precise needs...
