Yet another what car!

Hi All,

My Audi s3 lease is due to end soon so looking at what is next.

I have around 20k (could push to 25k) and looking for something a little special (coming up to 40th birthday so want to treat myself). It will be a daily but I don’t do many miles so mpg isn’t a worry. Ideally it will be fast and sound amazing (a priority). It would have to be parked at the train station in the day and outside at night (unfortunately ). Also can’t do more then one car due to parking restriction. Reliability is a factor as I don’t want to worry every time I start it. Would also like some mod conn’s if possible.

Ideally some suggestions from guys who have had similar decisions would be great. Please don’t comment about wasting money or suggestion something that doesn’t fit above. I understand everyone has an opinion but I’d appreciate help with my criteria only. Thanks All

You'll struggle to find anything that sounds better or is as special as those 2 in budget and limited mileage should ensure they hold their value well offsetting any maintenance costs.

Nearly 15 Years old and still utterly gorgeous. Far better looking than the new one IMHO.

Would love a F-type. Unfortunately it’s out of budget for now.

While the Jag is a lovely car, there is something about it that puts me off.

The Aston and Maserati are both ideal, but I’m worried about maintaining them, even though I can buy them they are still 90k cars to run. I’m assuming at the age they are it’s more then likely they could need parts replacing etc? I’m not going to have much of a maint fund if I go for the full budget.

As per my post on another thread, you need to balance 'possible' maintenance costs of certain cars against the 'definite' costs of other choices like depreciation or leasing.

I'd guess your S3 cost you £4-5k per year to lease? With minimal mileage a well bought Granturismo should barely depreciate at all so even if it cost you £3k a year in maintenance costs you'd still be ahead in comparison to the S3?

The other nice thing with the GT is that unlike all of the other suggestions it is very practical, which as an only car might be a consideration. A decent sized boot + genuine seating for 4 adults. The rest are really only 2 seaters with any rear seats being as good as useless.

My GranTurismo Sportline cost me between £800-1400 per year & that was with a specialist.
