Well, I've gone and done it.
Last weekend I took a couple of GT3's for a test drive, and this morning I picked one up and took her home. I've traded in my 997 gen 1.5 turbo (which I've had for nearly 7 years), and a bit of cash, for a late 2014 991 GT3 from my local OPC.
It was the spec that did it for me in the end... white with titanium wheels, full clubsport package with carbon buckets, 5 point harnesses, roll cage and fire extinguisher, full leather and alcantara interior with red stitching, axle lift and a bunch of other things I was looking for. And, with just over 3,000 miles on the clock from new, it is still absolutely flawless. In fact, at handover today it really felt like I was picking up a brand new car. But when I had my first chance to push down hard on the loud pedal on the drive home I ended up with a massive grin from ear to ear, boy was that fun!
The deal to swap the 997 turbo for the GT3 was also too good to ignore, so I had to scratch the itch. And I am really glad I did, this is a truly epic car, the acceleration and noise are just incredible and the interior spec makes it feel more like a race car, and much more of an event than driving the turbo ever was.
Pictures to follow when I've had chance to give it a wash and wax tomorrow. But I am already smitten.

Congrats GD - identical spec to mine. The only thing I found it needed on top was a Sharkwerks bypass pipe as below 4k revs it was a bit too quiet for me. Where abouts are you in the UK?
Thanks... and yes... that looks just lit it :-) I'm in Cheshire, just south of Warrington.Coming from a 997tt it sounds pretty awesome to me, I just have to get used to the more mechanical sound of the car at idle.

Congrats.. had mine just over a month and have to say it’s an amazing car also stunning to look at .. enjoy..
Also good to see a few buyers as there are those suggesting these are not selling..
Thank you... and that's a stunning GT3 - the black on black is fantastic, it reminds me of my old 997 turbo and if I'd not wanted to go for something a bit different this time I'd definitely have been tempted by that. Also good to see a few buyers as there are those suggesting these are not selling..
And yes, I do think these are still selling, I was tracking a few before I bought this one and the good ones do sell quickly.
Sorry about the lack of pics, I've been out driving the car. Some pictures coming this weekend...
