Radio panel the “3 buttons”
Discussion
So I have the earlier dash with the 3 black buttons what are the options ?
Mine have pushed through a little my last one had the Leven covers so know this is an option but I’d rather fit some alloy fixed ones !
Also my two light strips with MIL light etc don’t light up even when handbrake applies so looks like LED’s not connected (dash fascia replaced by PO )
Could anyone let me know what switches fit ? How much work ? Do they just slot in and push wires on ?
What MM size hole is it ? Know I need on/off or latching switch is there an amp rating I need to stick to ?
Any size help or links to switches seen the £20 ones but surely there are cheaper ones don’t wanna spend £60 on three switches that look like £5 switches !

2 of my lamps didn't work when I got my car. One was due to a corroded connection on the brake fluid cap connector. The other was because during a body off, somebody had snapped the handbrake on microswitch. Its' under the centre trim and bolted to the chassis. Can be accessed from above, and a classic Mini brake light switch was all that was needed. Handbrake lever had to be unshipped too.

Well top strip and bottom strip don’t light up so think it maybe not connected at the dash end if I put lights on my actual lights work but the display on dash doesn’t light up !
But worth know thanks !
Was thinking if was going to remove radio panel and replace switches could investigate these light display strips at same time !

There's one 12V supply to all the switch lamps. It is piggy backed across all of the terminals. If you have no 12V connection (or broken earth return) then none of them will work.
There's a photo on this thread to show you what to expect:

Do you mean the instrument back lights don't work when the lights are switched on?If so, then are you aware there is a switch under the dash above your left knee that turn the dash lights off.
Steve
There are two black strips above and below the 3 black buttons it’s these that don’t light up I.e if you put handbrake on
The dash clocks light up fine
I’m assuming when PO fitted the new fascia he didn’t connect these back up for some reason or there is a loose /broken connection TBH I’m not that fussed about it but......I wanted to fit the new 3 button switches so if I’m going to remove the radio and then panel I may as well look at them as well as attempt to fit new switches
So has anyone got the switch size in mm ? And ideas of which switches work ok and connections are they just a case of transferring over from old switch ?

Here's mine. I used Savage black anodised switches which are a direct replacement for the existing units size-size. Yes, they're expensive, but I only want to do the job once. I actually remade the lower facia to get rid of the ridiculous indicator repeaters, which I relocated to the main dash where I can see them, firing a fan override in there place.
I also replaced the four warning lights behind the oblong window with 10mm led's mounted into a nylon block. If you haven't investigated the wiring set-up being this panel, you're in for a treat - you can only improve on what's there!
Hope this helps.
