Boot lid adjustment ?
Discussion
Posted on here while back as boot was very difficult to shut ! Since then I’ve adjusted the latch on boot lid and I can now get it shut with little force (click it shut) before it needed a slam and would not always work !
I have the earlier boot hinges and the correct 250nm boot stay but it looks terrible and it sits proud along wing on drivers side
I’ve checked all the boot seal and it’s correct and sitting correctly checked aluminium bars and they look straight and true checked bolts etc and hinges
So although it shuts now it leaves a gap along the bottom (above number plate) and sits higher on drivers side along wing and would think is letting in water as my rear light mists up on one side (car lives outside on drive)
Read loads of old posts and it was and is a very common problem on this cars but read and read but never seem to get anyone that knows how to solve the problem ? Of course if I start the job I have to finish it as it lives outside and for security reasons so have not the luxury of messing with it and leaving it for another day if can’t fix it (no garage)
Advice anyone ?

Where the boot lid bolts to the bracket / hinge, you could put washer(s) under one side, or file some metal off the bracket (it is quite thick) as required to make the boot lid more level. Unfortunately, over the years on the earlier cars with a strut on one side (mine has the same), I believe the lid slightly bends up at the right. Also, replacement struts that are stronger than the originals haven't helped. If unbolting the boot lid, remove the strut first and you may want help to avoid the possibility of scratches.
The boot lip is quite high in my experience and despite the lid sitting quite high as you say, it is very unlikely rain will run into the boot unless the rubber seal is completely missing.
The light cluster misting up is more likely to be dampness getting in past the mastic around the outer plastic cover. Or just general condensation.
