I have a 18 month old Cayman 718, 12,500 miles. Have noticed that the rear tyres are very close to tread bars. What sort of wear have others had with cars of similar age? The tyres are Pirelli P Zero N1 265/40 R19.

~13,000 out of the factory fitted rear PZero N1s. The Goodyears I replaced them with are now half worn after a similar mileage and quieter. They also provide grip in the wet unlike the p zeros.

My November 2016 718 Cayman has just passed 21,000. Probably have another 2-3,000 miles in them.

My previous 981 Boxster managed 26,000 on its original boots.

Jesus Christ. If you can get more than 14k out of a set of rears you’re just not driving it right.

Looks like you have a perfect opportunity to fit some tyres that offer grip now. Michelin PS4S and you'll have a new car, especially when it rains.

I don’t tend to go around corners sideways if that’s what you mean but I don’t drive slow. Most of my miles since getting it have been motorway

If you are running 20s then run 265 and 245 in Cup 2. The 245 fits without any problems.

The PZero were the first thing we removed off the 718s. They are utterly terrible. If you just want motorway miles then fine but if you want to drive the car, then cup 2 is the solution.

Cayman 718s just over 13k miles and front and rear just above wear bars. P zero N1s.

Would replace the with Michelin PS4S but probably not keeping the car.

981 2.7 with 20's.

Original PZero N0 fronts replaced at 18k as faulty. Rears were worn out, fronts half worn at that point.

GY F1 A2s from 18k. Rears lasted 25k. Fronts are down to 4mm after 30k (car now at 48k).

Goodyears excellent, would consider only PS4S as a replacement next time.

Same here on GTS with PZ N1 on 20”
(motorway miles)

PS4S have transformed the car smile
Deals at Costco made £750 a set of four seem good value for the 20”, so I ditched the fronts with some life left.

The Goodyear’s are really cheap though, so get a full set of those?

I replaced the stock Pirelli's with PS4S after 10K miles and find them night and day better. In the wet they are especially impressive.

I don't see any 20" tyres on Costco for Porsche. When did you get them fitted?

It was in Croydon branch a few weeks ago.
I just asked them to order them for me, which they were happy to do smile

I have photo evidence smile

Can you get PS4S 19 for the rear with a N rating? I can only see GY asymmetric or Pirelli.

So far I’ve only seen them available in 20”. I’ve been searching for 18”s, GYs are the next best available imo but I’d kill for PS4S... time to buy some 20” rims perhaps...

I got the 19s because I live in a field with 6 miles of unclassified roads to the A6. I thought the extra rubber would give a bit more bounce but I should have probably gone for the 20s - the Pirellis are terrible in the wet.
