Best Lightweight Battery for a Speedster or .2 3RS?
Discussion
I might fit a Braille i48cs to my RS when i get it which is probably the best Lithium-ion battery..I'm going to fit one on my 458 as it spends some extended time in the garage..Best exhaust hands down to fit on either the Speedster or RS is JCR's center delete..
You could also try Antigravity's Li-ion battery as them now make them in i48 sizes so need to but a new base as well..This battery is also a fair bit cheaper than Braille's version.

Give Lite Blox a look. Never had one but they get good press and are lighter than Braille or Antigravity and made in the Fatherland...
Thanks... Checking them out. I know little about batteries so need to educate myself.€1,700 for Lite Blox seems expensive

Seriously, I’m not being obtuse, after you’ve spent 240 bags on this amazing car, what do you think you can improve? Noise, maybe. But weight saving? Just put less fuel in and I’m sure you’ll notice a massive difference on your local dual carriageway............
The car weighs more than a touring and these two relatively inexpensive mods make up a big chunk of that weight difference. I believe weight savings can really make a big difference on a car.Lastly, I know the audio system will add a chunk of weight and these mods will result in a neutral weight position at the worst, likely even some further savings.
While I understand your viewpoint keep in mind people are laying how much to save weight with WP? How much for Mag wheels? This makes saving 25kg plus a bargain and if a full titanium exhaust can be fitted that would be closer to 40kg/50kg I would imagine.

Isn't the weight difference driven by mandatory washers and the liquid associated with it? Once the tank is empty the weight should be gone too
The standard Bi-Xenom lights on the RS as lighter than the optional LEDs due to heavier wiring looms and motors for operating the PDLS function.Taffy66 said:

Removing circa 100kgs is barely noticeable on the road.
If you want one, cool, go for it, however do not expect any benefits.
As a counter to the Li options, an Odessey AGM can be had for circa £150 and will realise a saving of circa 15kgs over the standard item.

Had an Odessey in an Ultima, tiny little thing!Removing circa 100kgs is barely noticeable on the road.

you really start to notice above 40kg imo esp braking points and heat build up when you have some one in your car. on track it feels 3x worse with 50 kg so 100kg would be nasty, to a point on track I really hate taking people over 75kg out.Removing circa 100kgs is barely noticeable on the road.

the battery is a MASSIVE wight save and also you lower the C of G of the car. swap out to a Ti exhaust also and you are 40/50 kg saved that easy.
Fit some BBS Fi-R and you are at 50kg/60kg saved and 10 kg on unsprung mass and rotation, it gets really exciting to drive imo as I have found out with my 1230kg Spyder which I keep tweaking.
the liteblox is a great unit and no one can pinch your car either, it also lasts ages between charges, it's a no brainer fit imo on a £150/250k car what's £1.5k !
what are people paying for a WP option and saving ? :-) !!!! £1000 per 1lb
not sure why you quote a £150 battery saving 15kg either ! not one which will do the job in a road car and last 2 months uncharged and get you though winter ?
these sort of things great in race cars to start the car a few times. I ran a small Odessey in my Lotus track exige as an example.
for a road going car you will need something from ODYSSEY at circa £250 and those that big still weigh 50lbs, the litebox still outperforms it by miles and weighs 6.5 lbs !
got to pay to play as always ;-)

I worked out the weight and cost of the two audio systems I am considering incase anyone wanted to do something similar:
Option 1:
Amp:
JL 900/5
3.11kg
Speakers:
Morel Carbon 6.5” and matching tweeter
0.9 x 2 =
1.8kg
Sub
10” JL Audio TW3
4.6kg
Sub enclosure estimate:
6kg
Total weight:
15.5kg = 34.17lbs
Supply and install cost using my existing amp and Morel speakers:
£3,000 (high cost to custom make sub box in passenger footwell or behind the seat)
Option 2 (Everything in OEM Locations):
Morel M9 in the doors instead of a Sub to save weight
1.42kg x 2 =
2.84kg
Esotec Tweeter MD102
0.126kg x 2 =
.252kg
Esotar2 430
0.47kg x 2
0.94kg
Mosconi One Amp
2.7kg
Estimate for door Sound Deadening:
2kg
Option 2 Total:
8.7kg = 19.18lbs
Supply and Install Cost £4,000
I am torn between the two options because option 1 let’s me reuse components I already own and option 2 is a lighter option and won’t eat up footwell space, but won’t play as low.
I don’t think either will have crazy draw.
