Looking for advice regarding getting payment when selling a single item on-line.

I have sold items via Gumtree where buyer and seller meet up and exchange item for payment but I have a single item (small, hard to get, car part) which I would like to sell on Pistonheads.

How would I go about receiving payment for this item which I would be posting to the buyer?

Item would be selling for approximately £45.

Any advice gratefully received.

Just like anything else: bank transfer or Paypal Friends & Family.

Or paypal goods and services if the buyer wants some peace of mind that you aren't a scammer... just get them to add a quid or two to cover the fee on your end.

When I sell on gumtree and people want it posting I do bank transfer or paypal gift - anything else and you're going to get a charge back and screwed over. If people dont like it - get in a car and come get it cash......people worry even then it might break after they get it home....go buy a new one.

If it’s a hard to find car part, would you not do better with an eBay auction?

Or even via the owners club of the car it is suitable for? Given that you say it’s a rare part, I’m assuming that it isn’t a common upgrade that’d be suitable for lots of cars and models.

Thanks for all the responses.

As I said I was just after advice regarding accepting payment. I would prefer not to use ebay so will go with Pistonheads as a start and if it does not sell I will look at using some other method.
