I've seen the Dakotas are flying over Southend on the 5th,does anyone know if this will be over the seafront or the airport?

Also, our local paper mentioned a flypast coming from Biggin Hill on the same day, but I can find no more details of this.

Any help gratefully received, might take my old dad along

Bump. I haven't found anything, so could be a mistake in the local paper?

Coming from Duxford then over Colchester - Southend - Maidstone - Eastbourne then onto Normandy. Looks like being an impressive flypast.

If anyone spots a more detailed route plan, could you pop it up please? I don't live far from Maidstone but it's a big area to cover. I actually wondered if they might overfly Kings Hill as that was a WW2 base and only a few miles from Maidstone.

The NOTAM for the route show them coming in a line from the Colchester truning point to just east of Southend airport and then over the seafront just west of the pier.If you overlaid a clockface onto a map of Southend, with the centre of the hands on the seafront where the pier starts, the line they should be taking is from the 1 o'clock position to the 7 o'clock position, NNE to SSW effectively.

Thank you for your replies, will be taking dad down to see. He has dementia, so a full day at an airshow is too much for him, but this should be good.

They should be flying over Beachy Head at 2.50 pm in wide formation, we've set our Seaford Head golf tee time at 11.30 am so that we should be playing the 14th hole about then, there's a good view of the Seven Sisters from there and they should be a great sight.

There's a lot of should's in there but lets hope the ducks all line up.

Found a list of the Dakotas here, so hopefully they will show up on the tracker.

I've heard they will be west of Southend Pier hehe 2.29pm. I'll be there!

Incredible to think that there were over 800 on the day.

Go to this website https://notaminfo.com/ukmap and then zoom in around the Duxford area you will then see two parallel lines and a red circle, this is the route they will be taking.

Would make sense being west of the pier. I reckon Chalkwell would be an ideal place to take your Dad.

Thanks for all the help, unfortunately I had to leave dad there with my wife as I had to go to work. I think it went well over Chalkwell way, rather than the pier
