Becoming single....
Discussion
Sorry to dampen spirits, but something I have to share with the PH massive.
After 10 years together including three years of marriage, my Mrs has asked me for a divorce.
I know I could see it coming (my long hours of work being a major factor) and I know I have not been the best husband in the world, but the reality has suddenly hit me.
I feel completely numb.......

5. I have money?
If the answers to all of the above are YES then you will be okay.......

I do that whether i'm single or not......
that might explain why i don't stay attached for very long.....
All the best mate, it must be a nightmare. My longest with one woman is a shade under 4 years and when that ended it wasn't nice. You could try and make it work, the only problem being that you can only control how you feel and not the other person
Sorry to hear it.
Remember, you will be ok. It'll take time, but you will be.
However, don't let something go if its worth fighting for. I took the easy way out once and let someone go rather than fighting for it. A mistake I'm beginning to regret.
But if you do get divorced, try to stay amicable (even if it is a front), makes it so much less hassle and cost.

Bit of a bugger after 10 years. would have been more of a shock had you not seen it coming though i guess, small consolation i know
I'm on my 3rd girlfriend in 4 years, not a good average but the way i see it is I've recently had 3 great girlfriends
and still friendly with the previous two because they're great people, so i consider myself very lucky.
the next lady you meet might be with you for 20 years
here's to happiness, wherever it may come from.

That's a lot to lose, have you tried councilling, she can't just give up (but women do) without trying different options first.
Earlier this year I lost bird of 5 years and a couple of days ago my mate lost bird of 7 years. They just have enough and walk. It's a shitty thing to deal with.
Don't dwell on it, just accept that it will either get back on line or it won't. In the meantime, you're technically single and you should give your chopper a good shake down with any slutbag that will take it. Go out, get pissed, just force yourself through the recovery process. If you have drifted apart, maybe a split is a good thing to get a perspective on the future and decide what you really want. I went through this with the ex and decided that I really wanted to work it out and she didn't. It got better and I am a better, more happy bloke then I have been in a long time. I know it sucks but you will come out the other side and it will get better. It's just a transition and the process is the same for everyone, all the feelings are the same, just realise that your feelings are a matter of reaction and then you have to get on with your life. There is nothing worse than being stuck in those mental loops which just make you sad and drive you mad. I know exactly how you feel. It's an opportunity to move forward with your whole life.
I console myself with the thought, if it went to shit, it would have done sooner or later, regardless of how things panned out. Be glad it happened now instead of in 10 years time. Shagging loads of birds won't make you hurt less but it'll make you feel more attractive and worthwhile. I suggest you go and pump some sluts.
Goodonya, chin up cobber

Has she asked you for a divorce because she wants a divorce, or has she said it to bring it home to you how close she is to the end of her tether?

I have not been the best husband in the world
Difficult to tell if you're just beating yourself up here. None of us is perfect. If what you and she both want deep down is to be together then maybe it's recoverable. If 'not the best husband in the world' means hitting her or serial cheating, that might be a bit more difficult to heal.
All the best chap
cheers people - have been thinking about things a lot.
On the basis that I only just 30 I suppose there is a lot of gas left in the tank but it's still shocker. I noticed she has already taken her rings off
On the plus side, I think I'll get myself a new car to cheer myself up. Now where did I put that Maserati brochure......

God only knows why anyone would want to split up with you
If you tried it, you might like it
Seriously, I'm a sensitive fool and it's just how you process yourself in a given situation. I think staying stagnant is a bad idea.
Anyway, back on his lordships topic.....

Huge plasma? Yes
X-box? No, I went for a PS
Porn? Oh
Large leather sofa? Yes
Letch, oh yes.... And more
Convertible? Yes
These are the things of the single mans life. I know it'll feel a bit shitty for a while, but being single is good
Sorry for the brief reply, I'm just off to spend the money that would have gone on curtains had I been attached...... Currently a new AV setup is looking good

Sorry to hear it mate.
Taken off the rings already??? Who's she seeing then?*
Any kids involved? Hope not, that's a real mess.
You will get over it, it just takes time. You're only 30 so not just time for those sad singles clubs yet
You can always go on a C--t hunt with Vixpy
*Cynical? Yes. But from experience, no smoke without fire
