Surely the best use will be to turn them into hen houses or other farm shelter buildings etc?
No use as housing, as they have no insulation and by the time you've done all that you may as well have just built a proper house.
Or do what they did in the states with a load of old NYC Metro trains, dump a load of them offshore to make an artificial reef

I wonder if in 50 years time preserved railways would end up buying the bodies to convert them back in to trains? ;-)No use as housing, as they have no insulation and by the time you've done all that you may as well have just built a proper house.

Only if you put two side-by-side and turn them into a bungalow, though one might make a 'mobile home'. Apparently there are other more railway orientated uses under consideration such as parcels vans. Probably not express parcels though!

I'm sure a few will be preserved somewhere, and in 15 years we can all go to a "Pacer Special" day out because it'll be a "treat"Though having said that, I've never been on one
