Changing agents this year as current ones were struggling for months to re-let for this year. New one had it all sewn up in a week... Good call. Phew!

Now the current agent has said they are ending their contract a few days BEFORE the actual end of tenancy (as their T&C's allow, apparently) and wont be doing anything further - not even the check out/inventory or dealing with DPS deposit refundeek

To a point I get it as they wont be getting any income after June 30th but I think it very shabby not to do the check out against that inventory I paid them to create. I wouldn't expect them to handle any repairs/refurbs/cleaning of course or much after the check out day itself.

I'm obviously going to have words this week, but does anyone know if this is standard practice to turn their back on departing clients and thus minimise their work/effort? Clearly its bad business in my view and really lacks integrity - and despite my 5 years loyalty. I know the boss personally and could call his mobile, but he is an astute estate agent at the end of the day and could miss his putt wink So just gauging the industry a bit here before I ramp it up.

You have sacked them.

They won't care what your opinion is now. Move on with your life.

LOL - yes fair points both biggrin

They'll now do the checkout but wont handle the deposit return. Good as it gets I guess. Do agents put the deposit in Landlords name or the agency? How would I administer DPS if its not in my name/email address I wonder?
